that's the case in IE6-8. I've resigned myself to running the laptop in 1080p mode - especially in a multi-monitor setup - because at the end of the day the higher DPI added very little value. I thank you in advance for your reasonable responses. If other browsers are doing better, then awesome.
Thanks for the super easy fix! How much of graphics card memory will IE9 use? That it saves CPU time is also a nice bonus. Please help improve it or discuss these issues on the talk page. Microsoft really dropped the ball on this. Clear Type Switch I guarantee that Chrome and FF management are scared right now because they have to respond quickly or game over. I'd expect a modern CPU to easily reach the fill-rate needed to animate a bunch of 2D images.

Can you show sensibly resized stuff on Vista without jaggies? If I RDP from Yoga2 at full res into my machine at work (24" monitor running 1920x1080) I can't read/use anything - windows & text are way too small. The documentation is clear on High-DPI and developers need to test, include appropriate resources or don't claim to support high-dpi. For example this image looks nice, anti-aliased but is not performing well in IE8.
Are you looking into switching to managed code for IE9? It was excellent, but the high (only just compared to your example) pixel density was handled very differently in different browsers:IE (8?) just workedFirefox was fine once the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx setting was Frugality and excessiveness. Get a grip and drop the fud.
