I cant install the Nvidia driver for my card, it just keeps quiting itself. The technology is mostly about Linux, regular normal person computer use, kids programming, and now and then, household items. but you can file bugs and get community support for a closed os just as well as you can with Ubuntu. Unless I buy support for Ubuntu I will only get "community" support. Drivers, to control hardware bits, are notably absent. Linux on the other hand has committed to supporting every device so long as there is one user using it. The Desktop/Window Manager runs on top of the kernel -just like any other program- and adds all the bells and whistles to the desktop. But some of us like Gnome and are neutral to or dislike KDE. Ubuntu is considered one of the most user-friendly distros.
