Personally I just boot and run a few programs from my 256GB SSD and the two other spinners for backing up and storing programs. I have another computer and a printer connected that work just fine. Edit: IE9 installs to Program Files directory. One thing that I tried that worked was to boot XP up in safe mode with Networking. But i hate it, when there arises a problem, and people leave you to deal with it yourself . There were actually two keys and their subs I deleted from each ControlSet.
Just pointing this out so we can avoid wasting time on that part of things and just focus on the network issue.
