Tomorrow start all over with Toni. In Explorer it's listed as 'Local Disk' instead of 'Canvio' as it normal is. When I check the device manager, it still indicates that it recognizes both of my hard drives. One is 1TB, the other is 1.5TB.
by R. Soft reboot being a software restart/reboot, like CTRL+ALT+DEL, keeping the power on so the drives never power off. It also seems to make no difference which slot each drive is in. I would go so far as to assume that the AHCI driver you're using is the generic Microsoft one provided with the operating system.
Right clicked it and 'imported foreign drive' and now my drive is right back at home. As she is finding, the OS drive is generally ok, though occasionally she does get a BSOD which is possibly related. The problem is I only got 2GB back out of 20GB, not mutch good. Thanks a bunch.
