Yep, just the BIOS settings needed fixing. Minitoolbox I had gotten the freezes and crashing to stop by pulling out one of my Mushkin 996657 2gb sticks, but they'd happen very quickly once I put the other back in. I'm trying to run memtest86 right now.

Corrupt low-level driver. You can often find information about blue screens and application crashes in the Control Panel’s Action Center. So this leaves the MOBO, CPU and PSU, I would assume CPU and PSU problems would show itself differently.
